Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna insists his side are showing no signs of feeling any pressure in their bid to win automatic promotion to the Premier League.
The Tractor Boys, like Leeds United and Leicester City, suffered what they hope will be a minor stumble in recent matches, losing the East Anglia derby to Norwich City last weekend before being held by Watford in a goalless statement in midweek. The fact not one of the three sides chasing for the two automatic promotion places managed to capitalise on the others’ slip-ups meant it’s a case of status quo.
But despite his side failing to score in their last two, March manager of the month McKenna is still confident his side can get the job done, starting against Middlesbrough at Portman Road on Saturday.
“We’re just focusing on ourselves,” McKenna said. “I think you could see in the performance in the first half, there was no tension, no worries and no difference about the stage of the season. I thought it was a really good performance, and it didn’t look like it was the 42nd game or the 14th game or whatever. We were just playing as us, and that’s what we want to do.
