Leeds United will be hoping for a slip from Leicester City in their game in-hand tonight against Southampton, hoping Russell Martin’s side keep the top two race wide open heading into the penultimate weekend.

All that Leeds can do at this stage of the season is continue to do their job, having closed the gap to Leicester and Ipswich earlier in 2024, only to throw away two home games against bottom-half opposition to stay outside of the top two.

Another massive game takes place at the top of the table this evening, with Southampton travelling to Leicester City hoping to disrupt the Foxes reignited title push.

As much as Daniel Farke will continue to ensure Leeds do everything in their power to get promoted, he will no doubt be looking at events at the King Power tonight hoping for a favourable outcome.

At the moment, anything other than a Southampton win isn’t ideal for Leeds in terms of closing the gap to top of the league Leicester.

With Ipswich Town still not in action until the weekend, Leeds and the Foxes could cement their places in the top two with victories before Friday.
