Sky Sport Italia reports Nicolas Burdisso will leave Fiorentina at the end of his contract in June and Roma coach Daniele De Rossi would love to reunite with his former teammate at the Stadio Olimpico.
Former defender Nicolas Burdisso, currently serving as Fiorentina’s technical director, will leave the Tuscans in June, reports Sky Sport Italia.
Burdisso has decided against extending his expiring contract at the Stadio Franchi. He is on good terms with the club, but according to the report, he wants a new experience with more responsibility. The former Inter and Roma defender intends to work as a sports director and be allowed to make decisions independently.
De Rossi wants to reunite with Burdisso at Roma
According to the report, De Rossi would love to work with the ex-Argentina international again. DDR and Burdisso spent a few years together at Roma and the former defender was a Boca Junior director when De Rossi briefly moved to Argentina in 2019.
Sky Sport clarifies that there have been no contacts between Burdisso and Roma and that the ex-defender would love to move to the capital, but only if the coach and the directors make the decision, not just because he’s a friend of De Rossi.
Roma announced last week that DDR would stay at the club beyond June 2024, while Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso has confirmed that Daniele Pradé will remain as the club’s sporting director next season.
