May 3: RHP Yunior Marte (shoulder) to 15-day IL; RHP José Ruiz recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley
The Phillies placed Marte on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right shoulder. To take his place on the 26-man roster, the Phillies selected Ruiz’s contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Ruiz, who will wear No. 66, had a 1.64 ERA in 10 appearances with Lehigh Valley. RHP Yunior Marte (right shoulder inflammation)
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said they don’t know how much time Marte might miss because of his shoulder issue, but he said surgery is not required. Thomson said Marte first mentioned it during the team’s weekend series in San Diego in late April. It cropped up again in his last appearance a few days later against the Angels in Anaheim. RHP Luis F. Ortiz (sprained left ankle)

While Ortiz is officially on the IL because of a sprained left ankle he suffered leaping for a high chopper in his March 30 big league appearance, the Phillies officially recalled him from his rehab assignment because of inflammation in his right shoulder. He started to feel something in the shoulder following a couple rehab appearances with Single-A Clearwater.
