Paulo Dybala is out of Roma’s Serie A fifth-place showdown with Atalanta, as he has not even made the trip to Bergamo.
The clash is set to kick off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).
The two teams are currently locked together in fifth place, which is the final spot valid for entry into the Champions League, although La Dea have a game in hand.
Dybala was on the bench for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final with Bayer Leverkusen, which ended 2-2 on the night, eliminating Roma 4-2 on aggregate.
Roma must do without Dybala
Coach Daniele De Rossi confirmed La Joya felt a ‘twinge’ in the warm-up and so was not risked, but evidently his thigh issue is still a problem, as again any attempt to ramp up the work in training caused pain.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Dybala has not made the journey to Bergamo with his teammates, so it is likely Tommaso Baldanzi will start upfront with Romelu Lukaku.
Leonardo Spinazzola is out for the season with a lesion to his right flexor, which he sustained in that Europa League semi-final.
