Former Nottingham Forest target Jamaal Lascelles captained his Newcastle United side to a huge upset as they defeated PSG in the Champions League last night.
The 29-year-old, who was a target for Steve Cooper’s side last season, stood in for the injured Sven Botman and helped the Magpies defeat the mega-rich French side.
Last night was the second time in a week that the club captain played a full 90 minutes, despite going six months before that without completing a full game.
The defender left the City Ground alongside Karl Darlow for a combined £7 million deal back in 2014, with Lascelles being a key first-team member until the Saudi takeover a couple of years ago.

Although the 29-year-old hasn’t featured as much as he would’ve liked in recent times, last night was a true captain’s performance.
His side took control of the tie and were 2-0 up at the break thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron and Dan Burn, before adding two more goals in the second 45.
Although he had the least touches of any outfield player on the pitch, Lascelles made three tackles – the most of any player on the pitch during the 90 minutes.
The 29-year-old was up against £80 million man Randal Kolo Muani, with Lascelles keeping the 24-year-old at arm’s length.
He also won three ground duels, whilst winning all three of the aerial duels that he contested.
Despite his recent time on the sidelines, the 29-year-old fit perfectly into the backline, keeping out some of the best talent in world football with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Kolo-Muani and Ousmane Dembele
