It’s been a tough season for the Owls but after the turmoil that greeted their promotion to the Championship last summer, they’ve done well to steady the ship and secure survival.
Wednesday will be hoping for a less chaotic summer this year and, alongside keeping hold of manager Danny Rohl, they’d do well to tie down winger Ian Poveda to a permanent deal after an impressive loan stint at the club.
Poveda arrived in January from Leeds United and was an instant hit, adding pace and directness to Wednesday’s attack.
The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries, missing the last five games of the season, but the quality he showed towards the start of his loan means Wednesday would be wise to bring him back to Hillsborough and are unsurprisingly keen to do so.

Out of favour and out of contract at parent club Leeds, Poveda will likely be on the move this summer.
He won’t be without potential suitors, and Wednesday will have to be quick if they want to fend off interest from elsewhere and secure Poveda’s long-term future.

This will only increase interest in the Colombian as he looks to find a new club, having failed to make good on the early promise he showed at Leeds.
Wednesday are among those looking to sign Poveda, according to The Star, and should they hold on to Rohl, then they will become a much more attractive proposition.
The club is on an upward trajectory with the German at the helm but after an impressive first season in English football, he too is said to be attracting interest from elsewhere.
