May 19: Adolis García scratched from Sunday lineup
Manager Bruce Bochy said prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Angels that Adolis García was scratched from the lineup with a right forearm issue after a collision with Marcus Semien in shallow right field in the game the previous night. He’ll get an MRI, but the hope is that he’ll be OK after the off-day on Monday ahead of a series in Philadelphia.

May 17: LF Evan Carter (lower back stiffness) to return to lineup this weekend
Carter will be back in the lineup this weekend after an MRI on Monday revealed no major damage to his lower back. Carter, who was scratched prior to Saturday’s game against the Rockies, said a few hours after the MRI that he was told he merely had inflammation in his sacroiliac joints.

After manager Bruce Bochy noted that he would be available off the bench on Friday, Carter pinch hit in the ninth inning and flied out to left field.

May 15: RHP Shaun Anderson selected from Triple-A Round Rock; RHP Jack Leiter optioned to Round Rock
The Rangers selected the contract of Anderson from Triple-A Round Rock after optioning Leiter back to Round Rock following his lackluster home debut Tuesday. Although Leiter’s ERA swelled to 16.39 after his third start, Wednesday’s move is more about ensuring the Rangers have sufficient bullpen depth in the next week or two while they wait for injured starters Dane Dunning and Nathan Eovaldi to come off the injured list. Manager Bruce Bochy said that Anderson can fill the long-man role if a starter falters and exits a game early. Anderson pitched for Bochy as a rookie in San Francisco in 2019. He has a career 5.84 ERA over 135 2/3 Major League innings.
