Ipswich are back in the Premier League.
The Suffolk club haven’t been in the top-flight for over 20 years, but now, The Tractor Boys are back in the big time.
Of course, as with any club, promotion to the Premier League leads to a whole host of new signings, and according to Ben Jacobs, Ipswich could target a Newcastle player this summer.
Miguel Almiron wanted by Ipswich
Jacobs shared what he knows about Almiron and Ipswich’s interest.
“I’m told that there is Premier League interest in Almiron as well and Ipswich may be one to watch. Ipswich’s number one priority would be to bring in Omari Hutchison from Chelsea, but you just don’t know, things could change,” Jacobs said.
“With Almiron and Ipswich, that one is one to watch.”
Almiron could do better
Miguel Almiron would be an exceptional signing for Ipswich, but it’s hard to not think that the Paraguayan could do better.
Indeed, let’s not forget, just 18 months ago Almiron was one of the most in-form players in the Premier League, and you’d have to imagine that a move to a mid-table club could be on the cards rather than a relegation-threatened side like Ipswich.
With all due respect to Ipswich, they’re not fancied to stay up this season. They have a rather weak squad, and they could be about to lose their most valuable asset as Kieran McKenna continues to be linked with moves to Brighton, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Ipswich would be getting a serious coup if they managed to sign Almiron, but it may be difficult for The Tractor Boys to pull this off, especially if another team comes in for him.
The £21m Newcastle ace could be on the move this summer.
