Roma and Lazio have their starters in place between the sticks, Mile Svilar and Ivan Provedel, but the situations behind them are fluid for different reasons. Rui Patricio has long been rumored to leave the Giallorossi once his contract ends in June. On the other hand, he could stay put as a deputy, Il Messaggero reports (via OneFootball).

The veteran is waiting for a call from the hierarchy. He wouldn’t mind continuing in the Eternal City in the deputy role. He’d have to accept a reduced salary. He lost the starting job in February.

While Roma might continue with their two current goalkeepers, Lazio are exploring the market for a backup and laid eyes on Bari’s Brenno. Christos Mandas has been excellent while Provedel missed time due to a major ankle injury. He could go out on loan to be a regular or even be sold for a profit.

The 22-year-old was signed for just €1.3M from OFI Crete last summer. Instead, the Brazilian goalie hasn’t had a great season in the second division and was benched late. His team would have to pay €2M to retain him after a loan spell, or he’d return to Gremio.

Our Take on Lazio and Roma Goalkeepers

Mandas is a starting-caliber player, but Lazio committed to Provedel in one of the rare instances where they took care of business early, handing him an extension before it turned into a saga. It’d be a little waste to have both in the squad.
