Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed incoming Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is “not an upgrade at all” on Mauricio Pochettino.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Blues chiefs should “take a look at themselves” as their latest manager search comes to an end.

The Italian, who achieved promotion to the Premier League with the Foxes in the 2023-24 campaign, has a £9million release clause in his contract.

Pochettino was allowed to leave via mutual consent earlier this month despite a resurgence in form which saw Chelsea finish sixth in the table last term.
