The 16-year-old midfielder is yet to sign a professional deal at Ewood Park, leaving the Championship club vulnerable to Premier League clubs.

Finneran became Rovers’ youngest-ever player earlier this year after making his debut in their FA Cup win over Cambridge at the age of 15. It was actually former Toon striker Jon Dahl Tomasson who handed the Irish talent his senior debut, just a month before the Dane quit to manage the Swedish national team.

The teenager represents Ireland at U17 level and has shown his versatility during recent appearances in the Premier League youth leagues, where he’s operated in midfield, at right-back and centre-back.

The club have released a host of U18 and U21 talents over the past week, leaving plenty of space in our ever-improving Academy for summer recruits.
