Newcastle United are moving quickly in the transfer market this summer in a bid to get several deals lined up before the window officially opens on 14th June.

The Magpies have said to already have Lloyd Kelly sewn up as a free transfer once the defender’s Bournemouth contract expires, but the same was also said about Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo who made a last-minute U-Turn and instead looks to be signing for Chelsea.

Those deals had been the main topic of discussion for Newcastle for the last couple of weeks along with rumours of interest in several goalkeepers as Eddie Howe plans to shake things up in that department.

It’s expected that Newcastle will go into the new season with Nick Pope as first-choice, but Eddie Howe wants another goalkeeper who is going to challenge for that spot and to ultimately take over from Pope.

Newcastle have bid what Valencia are demanding according to reports in Spain

A few goalkeepers have been linked with the Toon but it’s Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili that appears to be the strongest rumour ahead of Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal.

Now, MARCA journalist Pedro Morata (via Alfonso Leocadio) has said that Newcastle have made a €41million (£35million) offer to Valencia for Mamardashvili which is believed to be the amount that Valencia’s owner Peter Lim is demanding for the 23-year-old.

So now it remains to be seen if that is true, and indeed if Valencia will give Newcastle permission to talk to Mamardashvili over a move.

Georgia could be worth watching in the Euros

Mamardashvili will be part of the Georgia squad competing in Euro 2024 this month, facing a difficult group which also includes Turkey, Czechia and Portugal.

I guess we’ll see what Mamardashvili is really made of in those games. We’ll also get to see a player who was constantly linked in the media with a move to Newcastle last year, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who remained at Napoli despite being one of the most hyped players in Europe.

Who’d have thought we’d be getting excited about watching Georgia in the Euros?
