West Ham could sign a world-class midfielder to replace Flynn Downes and they’d make a profit.
Both Flynn Downes and West Ham are probably just as unaware as anyone else as to where his future lies. His loan spell as Southampton was a resounding success and he was the most important player to their promotion.
While the Saints will undoubtedly want to sign him, and he’s also made it clear he’d be extremely happy to return to the south coast, the boyhood West Ham fan could get another chance to shine in claret and blue.
If his move to Southampton is made permanent, then the Hammers will definitely need to sign another midfielder. Thankfully, they have a replacement lined up and it’s world-class at that.
Youssouf Fofana is someone that Tim Steidten was desperate to sign last Summer, but David Moyes wasn’t such a fan. Now that he’s gone, Steidten could return to the Frenchman, Tuttomercatoweb reports.
Interestingly, he’s made it clear that he wishes to leave Monaco in the coming months and the Ligue 1 side are only set to demand a measly £17 million for his signature.
Obviously, this makes him a must buy, but that goes for many clubs with Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Aston Villa, Newcastle, PSG and others all lodging interest in the 25-year-old,
If the Hammers do manage to pull off the signing, it would be an unbelievable bit of business that would represent amazing value for money – something David Sullivan is always looking for. It may take some convincing, but the fact he’s available for less than Downes potentially would bring in means he has to be a top priority.
