Sources close to Farhad Moshiri have described Everton takeover talks as advanced after updates on Andy Bell and George Downing, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper has reported in its print edition [page 111, 8 June] that Bell and Downing have enlisted the help of Michael Dell to complete a quick deal.
The Merseyside duo are said to hope that the urgency of the situation at Goodison Park means they can be granted exclusivity within days.
Would Everton be in good hands with Andy Bell, George Downing and Michael Dell?
Everton fans will surely feel more confident in the make-up of this new takeover party than they ever were in 777 Partners.
In Bell and Downing, the club would be owned by genuine supporters of the club who would have personal motivation – rather than solely business – to act in the Toffees’ best interests amid a period of great instability.
And through the significant financial might of Dell, this takeover party spearheaded by fans is afforded a strength that could see them outstrip their four competitors and, crucially, solve a great deal of Everton’s serious off-field issues.
The club are in major debt and were deducted eight points last season after the Premier League sanctioned them twice for breaches of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), while the Toffees are also constructing a shiny – and expensive – new stadium.
Everton fans will certainly be relieved if this party takes the reins swiftly and takes decisive action after suffering through the protracted takeover saga of 777.
