LEDLEY KING SAYS ANGE POSTECOGLOU HAS ‘SMILES ON FACES’ AT TOTTENHAM – ‘I’D LOVE TO PLAY IN THIS TEAM’

Tottenham have made an impressive start to the Premier League season under new manager Ange Postecoglou, going unbeaten and catching the eye with their attacking approach. Former centre-back Ledley King thinks the players are enjoying the chance to play with more freedom under Postecoglou and can see they are “loving every minute” of working with the new manager.

Ledley King says he would “love to play” for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham and thinks the team are relishing the opportunity to “express themselves”.
Postecoglou has made an impressive start at Tottenham, winning four of his opening six Premier League matches and drawing the other two, including a 2-2 draw at Arsenal last weekend.
It is not only the results that have caught the eye, but also Spurs’ front-foot approach. While in recent seasons they have struggled to get fans off their seats, they have been an exciting watch so far under Postecoglou.
“I’d love to play in this team,” former Spurs centre-back and club ambassador King told TNT Sports, as part of British Sign Language’s ‘Sign Up’ campaign and a special show airing on TNT Sports 1 and discovery+ from 17:30 UK time on Friday.
“Whether you are a defender or an attacker, you want to play going forward, and you want your players to express themselves.

“We have so many talented players at this football club, and when they play with great expression, that’s when they’re playing at their best.”
Key to Spurs’ strong start have been summer signing James Maddison and new captain Son Heung-min. Both were integral in the draw at Arsenal with Maddison laying on two assists for Son, who is the second-highest scorer in the Premier League this season with five goals.
King thinks Spurs are relishing the chance to take the handbrake off under Postecoglou.
Straight away, we know that he has a certain style of football that he wants to play and the players have taken to that and they enjoy training sessions,” he continued.
“I see smiles on their faces while they’re working hard. The performances straight away in terms of the team on the front foot, was something that is for everyone to see.
“I can honestly say that the players are loving every minute of the training sessions and playing under Ange at the moment.”
Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Manchester City. King expects the team to continue working hard” as they look to build on their positive start.
“I think with a new manager coming in, I don’t think there were too many expectations placed on the season other than improving on last season and playing in a style that we feel that this club should be playing, the attractive style of football that the fans can really get behind,” he said.
“I think so far we’ve been able to see that very early on in the season.
“I think the team will continue to keep working hard. We know it’s a long season, but at the moment, the objective is to finish in a better place than we did last season and see where we finish.”
