The race to sign Nottingham Forest-linked goalkeeper Carlos Miguel continues to be one full of twists and turns.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds are interested in signing the Corinthians custodian after keeping tabs on him last season. However, they suggest reports from Brazil of an agreement being in place “are very premature”.
The information comes as Brazilian media outlet UOL say Forest are set to pip Premier League rivals West Ham United to Miguel’s signature. They claim the 25-year-old “informed Corinthians” after training on Friday morning of his decision to move to England, with a five-year contract at the City Ground mooted.

UOL add any move would not happen before July, leaving the player available for his current club until then. Brazil’s Serie A 2024/25 season started in April and runs until December.
Miguel is said to have a 4 million euros (£3.4m) release clause in his contract. In addition to Forest and the Hammers, he has been linked with Watford and an Italian side, while Corinthians are said to be keen to hang on to him.
A reshuffle of the Reds’ options between the posts is on the cards as the club look to push on under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Matz Sels established himself as No.1 in the second half of last term following his January move, after Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos had struggled to convince.
Talk of a possible summer exit for the latter first emerged earlier this year, with reports suggesting he was frustrated over his lack of game time. Teammate Turner is said to have interest from the MLS.
