The long-awaited transfer of Luis Guilherme to West Ham United is set to be signed off on Wednesday morning [12 June], according to Fabrizio Romano.West Ham Luis Guilherme

The Italian Journalist has reported that the Brazilian winger will join the Hammers for a total fee of £25.2million from Palmeiras.

The 18-year-old has already had his medical completed, hence why it’s only a matter of time before it becomes official.

Who is Luis Guilherme and why is West Ham spending £25.2m on him?

Guilherme is a Brazilian midfielder who, despite being just 18 years old has already played a total of 45 games across his career.

The youngster has played across the midfield and has even had a go up front and on the wings.

Despite playing a vast amount of games for his age, the Palmeiras prospect has managed to chip in with a total of two goals thus far.West Ham Luis Guilherme

The first of which came during this season’s Copa Libertadores where, despite coming on as a substitute, Guilherme managed to change the game to his team’s favour and score against Independiente.

Aside from Guilherme, West Ham will be looking to make further moves in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad.

Despite finishing ninth last season, the Hammers will be looking to qualify for Europe following their success in the Conference League during the 2022/23 season.

Although the midfielder may not be a player who’s signed to start straight away, it gives hope to fans that their board members are looking ahead at the future when considering who to sign.

The likes of Tomas Soucek (29) and James Ward-Prowse (29), although regular starters for the team, are getting on somewhat.

So with the additions of Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez in recent windows, it’s evident that the Hammers are looking ahead regarding the signings they’re choosing to make.
