Steve Cooper is now the clear frontrunner to become the new manager of Leicester City.
The club’s three-week search for Enzo Maresca’s successor has seen them speak to a host of candidates and former Nottingham Forest boss Cooper is now heavy favourite to take over. There are reports of advanced talks with the Welshman, and suggestions of an agreed deal.
Cooper, out of work since leaving the City Ground in December, has been a candidate since the start of Leicester’s process to find a new boss. Over the past week, a clear favoured three emerged, with Cooper alongside former Brighton and Chelsea manager Graham Potter and West Brom head coach Carlos Corberan on the final shortlist.
City have been long-term admirers of Potter and there were suggestions on Tuesday night that they were closing in on the 49-year-old. However, doubts on both City and Potter’s side have seen a potential deal fall through.
