Leicester are aiming to appoint Steve Cooper as their new head coach inside the next 48 hours.

The Foxes are in advanced talks with the former Nottingham Forest boss about replacing Enzo Maresca, who has joined Chelsea.

Cooper has been aware of the Foxes interest for a number of weeks and the newly-promoted side are now closing in on his appointment.

Sources insists Cooper was always the club’s preferred candidate to replace Maresca, who led the club to an instant Premier League return following their relegation in 2023.

If all goes according to plan, Leicester will look to confirm Cooper’s appointment by Friday.
