Michael Olise has dismissed Newcastle United and decided to join Bayern Munich, according to reports.
The Magpies were widely understood to be targeting the winger to lead their summer rebuild. An impressive 16 goal contributions in 19 games last season saw Olise emerge as one of the Premier League’s best wingers.
It is no secret that Newcastle are chasing a right-sided attacker and the 22-year-old’s profile fits the bill. While his international allegiance is France, Olise was born in England, has top-flight experience, is dynamic on the ball and can be developed further.
Chelsea and Manchester United were also rumoured to be vying for his signature. However, The Athletic report that Olise has chosen Bundesliga giants Bayern despite their recent woes.
Bayer Leverkusen stole the show in 2023-24 to end the Bavarian club’s 11-year grip on the league title. That is despite going big to land England captain Harry Kane, with Thomas Tuchel losing his job as a result.
