According to Fabrizio Romano, Bruno Guimaraes is refusing to even entertain a move away from Newcastle United as he prepares to represent Brazil at Copa America

Speaking on The Debrief alongside Ben Jacobs, Romano reveals that the midfielder has no interest in holding talks with any interested parties now he’s away representing his country.

With Bruno’s £100m release clause due to expire at midnight tonight, it’s clear the likes of Man City, Arsenal and PSG will not be signing the striker at this special price, putting the ball in Newcastle’s court over a fee.

Romano adds that it “would be extremely shocking” if he now leaves this summer, feeling it’s “brilliant news” for Newcastle that no one has activated his release clause. “Bruno Guimaraes is not even entertaining talks with any clubs right now.” He said. “It would be extremely surprising and shocking if he was to leave Newcastle this summer. Nothing is happening, there are no negotiations at all on club or player side. This is brilliant news for Newcastle, for sure.”

Brazil play Costa Rica at 2am on Tuesday morning in their opening game of Copa America, where Bruno is expected to start in midfield alongside Lucas Paquta and Wolves’ Joao Gomes. See the leaked line up below, via Globo:
