Roma are ready to try and rival Inter Milan to sign Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the Icelander would be receptive to the move.

It is not hard to see why Gudmundsson has attracted the interest of Serie A’s biggest clubs.

The 26-year-old former AZ Alkmaar forward enjoyed a breakout campaign last season. He scored fourteen goals and made seven assists for Genoa.

Naturally, Gudmundsson’s form was a key driver in the Grifone’s cementing a solid foothold in midtable for themselves in their first season back in Serie A.

And there is now the sense that, having helped keep Genoa in the top flight, Gudmundsson will now be on his way.

The club most strongly linked with a move for Gudmundsson has been Inter.

Reportedly, the Icelandic international is the Nerazzurri’s top target in attack.

Inter see Gudmundsson’s positional versatility – he can play in central or attacking midfield, at second striker, or on the wing – as the perfect addition to complete their attack.

And by all accounts Gudmundsson himself would welcome the move to Inter.

However, the high price tag for the Icelander would be a problem for Inter.

Considering Gudmundsson’s outstanding form last season, Genoa would expect no less than 30-35 million for the 26-year-old.
