World Series - Texas Rangers v Arizona Diamondbacks - Game FiveThe Texas Rangers were swept by the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday and then got crushed in their series opener against the Baltimore Orioles. The defending World Series champions fell to 37-44 on the season.

Texas is eight games back of first place in the AL West and seven games back in the Wild Card race. Lately, the offense has been struggling to a concerning degree, and general manager Chris Young made some key roster moves to shake things up.

The Rangers called up outfielder Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock while optioning infielders Justin Foscue and Ezequiel Duran.

Young commented on the moves, and based on what he said, Texas may be looking to shake things up even further with an impactful move or two at the trade deadline.World Series - Texas Rangers v Arizona Diamondbacks - Game Five

“We can’t sit back and wait, hope that it comes together. It’s time for us to get going; it’s time for us offensively to perform like the team that we know we can be,” said Young. “I have great confidence in all of these players, but for a number of reasons, we just haven’t performed to the level that we were expecting.”

Obviously, Young knows that the Rangers need to improve offensively in order to get back into contention. Texas has Adolis Garcia, Nathaniel Lowe, Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, and other stars in their lineup, which should make them a top offensive team.

However, they’ve struggled, and Young clearly hopes the moves he’s made will help spark something.
