While Vinicius Jr, Joselu and Jude Bellingham may have led the line for Real Madrid last season in terms of goals, the team’s success can only be attributed to the collective effort including contributions from players on the bench.

One such young star who stepped up his game for the team last season was Brahim Diaz, and despite not being a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti, the Spanish-Moroccan sensation left a positive impression on the management.

With Kylian Mbappe and Endrick are set to arrive and further fortify Real Madrid’s attack next season, the competition for a starting spot will only amplify. Foot Mercato, however, report that Diaz will continue to fight for a place in Madrid.

A common understanding

As revealed by the Italian outlet, Tottenham and Roma have tested the waters in recent weeks in the hope to sign the youngster this summer.

However, Diaz is clear that he wishes to continue working under Carlo Ancelotti for at least another year while the club share the same sentiment. The two parties will not part ways this year.

Last season, Diaz averaged 51 minutes per game for the team in La Liga, scoring eight goals and providing six assists for Los Blancos in the process. He also recorded three-goal contributions for the team in the UCL.

Fate in his hands

While it appears prima facie that Real Madrid will have serious competition for places in the final third, Diaz may not be a direct victim of the same.

The 24-year-old shines is best placed as an attacking midfield, and while that position may not be up for grabs next season, he will continue to be a strong candidate to play on the right side of Real Madrid’s attack depending on the system.

Considering that Rodrygo, Vinicius and Mbappe are all better placed on the left flank, the youngster could well have his chances.
