EX-SUNDERLAND SENSATIONAL ACE WANT TO JOIN COVENTRY …
Northampton Town have signed defender Jordan Willis, with the former Coventry & Sunderland player arriving on a short-term contract.
Willis, 29, has signed for the League One club until January, with the defender arriving on the short-term basis after training with the club for several weeks following his summer departure from Wycombe Wanderers.
The Cobblers have involved him straight away after announcing his signature, with Willis being named on the bench for today’s (07/10) match away at Shrewsbury.
Willis is a graduate of the Coventry City youth academy, making over 200 appearances for the Sky Blues after making a competitive first team debut in 2011.
He left to join Sunderland in 2019, spending 3 years with the Black Cats before leaving in 2022. He duly spent last season with Wycombe Wanderers.
Cobblers boss Jon Brady told the club’s website of his delight at getting the move done.
He said, “We are delighted to welcome Jordan to the club.
“He is a defender with a huge amount of experience, particularly of playing in League One and we feel he will help add depth to the squad in a key position.
“He has been training with us for a few weeks so we have had the chance to have a good look at him and to see how he fits in, so we know he is ready to go and we believe he will be a good addition.
“The Chairman and the Board of Directors have been very supportive in extending the budget again for this signing to happen and we thank them for that.
“We believe Jordan’s experience and pedigree will be a big asset to us ahead of a busy period in the season and we are pleased to add him to the squad.”
