‘QPR are believed to have made a bid for up-and-coming Valencia forward Declan Frith as the London club looks to recruit a winger as a priority ahead of the Championship season.

Chris Willock still hasn’t agreed terms on a new deal at Loftus Road and could leave as a free agent with Sunderland and Norwich City reportedly interested in the former Arsenal youngster. The Black Cats are one of the other Championship outfits named as potential suitors for Frith too, alongside Watford.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Marca, which reports that despite British interest, it’s La Liga side Getafe who are frontrunners. Frith’s agents have made the trip to Madrid with a view to finalising a move but the report does state that QPR, Sunderland and Watford are all options having made bids for the player.

Frith joined Valencia in 2023 but has only featured for the B team and appears to be deemed surplus to requirements. His current contract is not due to expire until June 2026.

The winger, who can also play at full-back, began his career as a youngster with Chelsea and Aston Villa before making the switch to Spain. He was also previously at Welling United.

Frith will come as somewhat of an unknown to QPR supporters but some clues about his abilities can be taken from the UTV Podcast, which watched the player during a youth match when at Aston Villa. Reporting on his skillset, the platform said: “There were a couple of contributions worth mentioning – the first being Declan Frith. To be honest, he is not a name I was familiar with, and indeed my son had to tell me who he was – but he was excellent in the first 45 minutes.
