Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni seems to understand he could be out of a job come January following the events of the 2023 season.
Sirianni guided the Eagles to a berth in Super Bowl LVII back in February 2023, and his team started last season at 10-1. However, the Eagles then fell to 11-6 before they suffered an embarrassing 32-9 wild-card playoff loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Earlier this spring, Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes revealed that Sirianni’s seat “could probably not be hotter.” It was said in February that Sirianni will operate “in a new structure where (he) appears to be transitioning into more of a CEO-type role” while working with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick reportedly could take Sirianni’s job if things go poorly for the Eagles this coming season.
“I believe in connection,” Sirianni noted. “I have to practice what I believe in accountability. I have to practice what I believe in detail. I have to practice what I believe in toughness.”
As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the Eagles tied for third among the betting favorites at +700 odds to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX. Needless to say, Philadelphia once again being a one-and-done playoff team could result in Sirianni’s dismissal.
