French club Rennes have joined the race to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, the Whites winger is being chased by four Premier League clubs in England including Chelsea.

The French news outlet claims that Rennes want Summerville as a potential replacement for Désiré Doué who is likely to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

As of now, the Ligue 1 side have yet to make a formal offer, but in case they do, they will have to pay a fee of over £16.8 million to sign the Dutch “phenomenon”.

Rennes are also looking to sign Leeds midfielder Glen Kamara who was expected to undergo his medical on Tuesday.

Leeds United must keep hold of Crysencio Summerville

Having already sold Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds are financially better placed now to keep hold of their star players.

With Kamara leaving as well on a decent transfer fee, the Whites can now look forward to building a strong squad for the next season.

However, they are powerless to prevent their star players from leaving if there’s a good offer from top clubs, and that’s why there is no guarantee that both Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto will stay at Elland Road beyond the summer.

Summerville was one of the key players under Daniel Farke last season. He scored 19 goals and provided nine assists as he helped the club reach the final of the Championship play-offs which they lost against Southampton.

As of now, Leeds have yet to receive any formal offers for Summerville but the situation could easily change in the coming weeks.
