If you watched Leicester City closely last season, you’ll know that the Foxes definitely need a new striker. This fact has been reinforced a few games into preseason. What did Steve Cooper reveal when asked specifically about the possibility of signing another goalscorer?

Attacker Kelechi Iheanacho has already left King Power Stadium this summer. Will another centre forward possibly exit LCFC over the offseason? Clubs are supposedly eyeing a move for one of the east Midlanders’ assest. Will Tom Cannon depart Filbert Way soon, or will he attempt to make his name in the Premier League with Leicester?

Tom Cannon has interest from multiple teams that are not in the English top-flight

Cannon joined from Everton with a ‘one for the future’ label attached to him from the media. That assessment was correct because former Leicester manager Enzo Maresca used the 21-year-old sparingly over the course of the 2023/24 campaign.

Occasionally the one-time Evertonian was not even selected in extended matchday squads by the Italian. This led to slightly unfair but all the same genuine scrutiny over Cannon’s City career at a fledgling stage. Newly installed boss Steve Cooper’s feelings on the footballer are unknown at present. He will be assessing as he goes – as with all contemporary Foxes.

When Cannon features for LCFC, he shows signs that he could be the main man once talisman Jamie Vardy retires. If that sad day does eventually occur. But the former Toffees up-and-comer hasn’t yet shown enough at the King Power to fully convince fans, or presumably the outfit’s staff.

A trio of Championship sides are meant to be chasing the Fox, if we believe a claim from journalist Alan Nixon. Nixon suggests that Sheffield United, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are all in the market for a forward. Cannon is supposedly on their respective wishlists; will Cannon go before 2024/25 begins? I think only Cooper and the player himself could answer that query at the moment.

Jamie Vardy can still do the business but he needs help at Leicester City

If Cannon stays and cannot supply EPL goals, City require a separate understudy to Vardy. The same untold applies to Patson Daka, who was unimpressive on the whole when previously in the division.
