A seemingly smart move from Leicester City meant Mads Hermansen will be staying at King Power Stadium this summer. Former Foxes boss Enzo Maresca was eyeing another treacherous swoop for the currently integral LCFC goalkeeper. However, it appears that the Italian probably won’t be signing the Dane, if we trust reports.
Meanwhile the east Midlands outfit were reportedly considering a surprising move for experienced Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew. Would the Ghana international be a prospectively solid addition for Leicester? Or would the inconsistent winger be an unwise acquisition for City?
Is Jordan Ayew a good fit for Leicester City?
Leicester were linked with a shock move for Palace attacker Ayew over the weekend. The Foxes haven’t yet bid for him, though a pursuit is said to be under consideration on Filbert Way.
LCFC are also apparently mulling potentially going in for Liverpool youngster Ben Doak. Though the Reds up-and-comer is only 18 and is unlikely to receive the Premier League game time he craves. This is partly due to his age and inexperience, in spite of obvious quality and pedigree coming from the Anfield set-up.
The main reason why Doak maybe won’t join is that City have a plethora of talent on each wing: Abdul Fatawu, Kasey McAteer, Stephy Mavididi. Now there’s new man Bobby De Cordova-Reid as well. This means the Scotsman will almost certainly end up elsewhere.
But back to Ayew now. The 32-year-old undoubtedly upped his game for Palace in 2023/24. Before then I was often surprised that he made the Eagles’ starting lineup so frequently. Yet, as I alluded to, productivity in front of goal has increased dramatically when perusing the Ghanaian’s statistics from previous seasons.
A couple of other elements of Ayew’s style people enjoy or rate are his work ethic and team mentality. He’ll run back to track other wingmen and full backs; evident selflessness along with unity, as opposed to personal gain or fame.
