AS Roma have confirmed the signing of 21-year-old Argentinian talent Matias Soule from Serie A rivals Juventus in a deal reportedly worth €26 million. The winger played for Juve’s reserve and Under-19 squads before impressing on loan at relegated Frosinone last season. Roma fended off reported interest from West Ham United and Leicester City to sign the highly-rated young prospect.
Matias Soule has completed a move to AS Roma in a deal reported to be Serie A’s second-most expensive of the summer.
The signing of the forward from Juventus, where he was an academy graduate, is behind only Alessandro Buongiorno’s €35m transfer from Torino to Napoli.
The Argentinian winger has reportedly signed a five-year deal worth €26 million, with €4m in add-ons, with Juventus benefiting from a 10% future sell-on clause.
Roma owner Dan Friedkin, an American billionaire and chief executive of the Friedkin Group, and head coach Daniele de Rossi were reportedly both keen on the move.
Roma have secured his signature amid reported interest from Leicester City and West Ham United.
Soule becomes the club’s fourth signing of the summer, after Enzo Le Fee joined from Stade Rennais, Angelino from RB Leipzig, and Mathew Ryan on a free transfer from AK Alkmaar.
