A Tottenham Hotspur target has just turned down a move to Roma.
The North Londoners finished just two points adrift of fourth place last term, so the onus will be on Ange Postecoglou to go one better.
To do that, he’ll need backing in the transfer market and evidently, a striker is needed to take that next step.
With that said, one of their forward targets has just rejected a move to Roma.
Jonathan David rejects Roma
According to French publication L’Equipe, Lille striker Jonathan David has just rejected a move to Serie A giants Roma.
It comes after Tottenham showed interest in the 24-year-old, so clearly, their chances of landing him have now increased.
TBR ran an exclusive report in June about Spurs’ pursuit of David, as they intensified contact with the Ligue 1 outfit.
Now it seems they’re back in the picture again, though, Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke is also a top target.
Jonathan David statistics
David netted 26 goals whilst laying on nine assists for Lille last term, helping them to a fourth-placed finish.
The Canada international also featured at the Copa America earlier this summer and scored twice against Peru and Uruguay.
David, who has been labelled as ‘one of the best strikers in the world’ per Tony Marinaro, is expected to cost suitors around £25m – so he’d be significantly cheaper than the £65m-rated Solanke.
