Roma forward Artem Dovbyk and his agent have been keen to get across their side of the story after a move to Atletico Madrid collapsed, and in another interview, he has touched on the subject.
It looked as if a move to Atletico was on the verge of going through after a deal was agreed with Girona, but Dovbyk has said previously that Los Rojiblancos changed the conditions of his deal and that of his agent at the last minute. Shortly after a meeting between the two, ‘irreconcilable differences’ between the two emerged. A week later, Dovbyk was a Roma player.
“I decided after talking to Dan Friedkin. He made me feel important. I also spoke with [manager Daniele] De Rossi and [Sporting Director Florent] Ghisolfi.”
“It wasn’t because the relationship we had with the club wasn’t the best. I didn’t feel confident, unlike Roma,” he explained to GdS, as recorded by Diario AS. “There were people who wanted me in the club and others who didn’t.”
The whole debacle turned into something of a messy affair for Los Rojiblancos, but it will not live too long in the memory, particularly if Alexander Sorloth scores the desired goals in the next few seasons. Los Rojiblancos are expected to tie up a deal for Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez in the coming days too.
