Things are hotting up in the race to sign Jonathan Rowe. The Norwich City star is attracting interest from Leeds United and French giants Marseille. Both clubs are keen to lure the England Under-21 international away from Carrow Road before the transfer window shuts.
A HITC report has claimed that Marseille have seen an opening bid, worth just shy of £10m, turned down by the Canaries. City are keen to retain Rowe’s services this summer and the offer falls short of the winger’s valuation.
United want to bolster their attacking options following Crysencio Summerville’s departure and are among a list of suitors eyeing a potential deal for Rowe, who has entered the last year of his Canaries contract, although the club possess a 12-month option in their favour. Talks between Leeds and Norwich have taken place but the Whites have yet to submit a formal bid for the player. It has been claimed the Whites began negotiations at around the £7m mark but Norwich want closer to £15m.
Rowe, one of the top performers in the Championship last time around, has travelled with City’s squad for their Championship opener against Oxford United today. Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has praised the professionalism Rowe and Adam Idah have shown following intense transfer speculation surrounding their futures.
“That’s how it is. These guys, they train with the group, and they are important players for the group,” said Thorup. “We have to respect that the window is still open so many things can happen. We cannot affect what will happen.
