Crystal Palace have reportedly stripped goalkeeper Sam Johnstone of the club’s No.1 jersey following a transfer request and last week’s rumours in which Leicester City were linked with interest.
Whilst Steve Cooper inherited a goalkeeper with a high ceiling for development in Mads Hermansen, the new manager has been tipped to make his own mark this summer. Premier League rivals Palace were said to have sanctioned the shot-stopper’s sale after two seasons in South London, as the man in question personally asked manager Oliver Glasner for a move away from the club.
Alongside City, it was Forest, Southampton and Wolves who are all allegedly on alert as the situation develops. Now the latest decision seems to hint a deal is likely to be done before the end of the month.
According to the Daily Mail, Johnstone is set to have the No.1 taken from him. It will instead be given to Dean Henderson, who had held the No.30 since his £20m permanent switch from Manchester United last August.
The latest update confirms Palace remain steadfast over their £10m asking price, whilst top-flight rivals Bournemouth have since been added to the list of suitors.
