After narrowly avoiding relegation in the 2023/24 season, Cagliari are looking to get off to a good start in the 2024/25 Serie A campaign but they are facing an AS Roma side who have had an exciting summer.
There is no doubt that Cagliari will need to improve this season as they only avoided the drop by a point, and now they are without Claudio Ranieri. Whilst they have made some decent additions this summer, they have also lost some talented players so they are hard to judge at this stage.
AS Roma on the other hand have had a potentially fantastic summer and have a huge amount of attacking firepower. The chance of Paulo Dybala leaving is a serious concern, but there are players who could step up in his absence.
Cagliari vs AS Roma: Predicted line-ups
Davide Nicola is almost able to call on his full squad against Roma, however, Nicolas Viola and Yerry Mina will be absent with the latter missing the game through suspension. Nadir Zortea could make his Serie A debut for the club after signing from Atalanta this summer.
The story is the same for Daniele De Rossi as he will be able to call upon most of his squad – barring Leandro Paredes.
Artem Dovbyk, Mathias Soule and Enzo Le Fee are all set to start for the first time in Serie A for their new club, but De Rossi is reportedly yet to decide if he will deploy his side in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Notably, Dybala is set to take his place on the bench amid transfer speculation.
Cagliari predicted XI vs AS Roma (3-5-2): Scuffet; Zappa, Wieteska, Luperto; Zortea, Deiola, Prati, Marin, Augello; Luvumbo, Piccoli.
AS Roma predicted XI vs Cagliari (4-3-3): Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino; Pellegrini, Cristante, Le Fee; El Shaarawy, Dovbyk, Soule
