Brighton are back in the hunt for Matt O’Riley and according to Anthony Joseph they’ve made a  bid for the Danish international with discussions ongoing between the two clubs.

Atalanta BC have of course apparently withdrew from the chase for Matt’s signature after signing Lazar Samarszic as an alternative, so it remains doubtful if they will submit a sixth bid for the in demand midfielder. Atalanta were apparently fed-up getting knock-back after knock-back for Celtic despite never actually meeting the asking price for the player.  Italian tyre-kickers.

Details of Brighton’s bid are unclear at the moment, but you’ve got to imagine it’s more than what the Serie A side offered, so it could very well be accepted. The it would be up to Matt to make his mind up.

Brendan spoke yesterday of how we need a new face in the midfield but selling Matt would mean two new faces should O’Riley depart. So we will need to get searching for an adequate replacement as replacing Matt will prove extremely difficult to secure.

The transfer window has less than two weeks to go, so it’s imperative that we get the ball rolling and look to replace Matt. We will receive a significant sum for the former MK Dons man and it would be unforgivable if we didn’t reinvest a big chunk of it on a reliable replacement, and for the board to tell us that they ran out of time as they bank the Brighton cash.
