Jim Brown

Jim Brown (CCFPA’s founding member and until recently committee Chairman) ha produced a long-standing, roughly weekly, Journal post about all things Sky Blue for many years. Parts of it have also appeared in a regular column for the Coventry Telegraph.

The posts are a mine of information about the club’s recent and long distant past. As most Sky Blue fans know Jim is also Coventry City FC’s official club historian. The latest and second journal entry of this new Championship season 2024-25 has just been published online.

His latest posting is based around the Sky Blues’ recent 1-0 League Cup victory at Bristol City (who, coincidentally, we play also play next time out in the Championship). This was thanks to a 65th minute Ellis Simms strike.

Sky Blue Ellis SimmsJim provides historical context for this rare first round victory in the competition and gives chapter and verse on the clubs’s previous terrible record in the competition over the years. For example this was the first season in four successive years we have made the second round!

Perhaps it helped that CCFC’s manager Mark Robins made a quintet of substitutions all at once, the first time ever under the current rules and Jim again looks at the historical context in detail.

There’s much food for thought as Sky Blue fans ‘keep the faith’ for the current campaign. As always, there is  plenty for Sky Blue fans to get their teeth into in Jim’s latest offering. It and all previous instalments of the blog can be read by clicking on the link below:-
