Interview with James Benge about Arsenal and Premier League - YouTube

‘WHAT A SIGNING,’ SAYS PUNDIT, ‘SENSATIONAL’ PLAYER OF CARDIFF BEST TRANSFER CHOICE……….

james Benge says Aaron Ramsey is Arsenal’s best transfer from the post-Invincibles era.

Let’s be honest, since Arsenal last lifted the Premier League crown during the 2003/04 campaign, it hasn’t exactly been a time to shout about, both on and off the field of play.

The fans will feel they have been through a lot. From FA Cup wins, the departure of club legend Arsene Wenger to humiliating defeats. Aaron Ramsey to miss Wales' November Euro 2024 qualifiers, says Cardiff manager

But when trying to look at the positives, Arsenal fan and CBS journalist was naming his best transfers from the post-Invincibles era, as he had Aaron Ramsey right at the top of the list, as he told Inside Arsenal.

The 32-year-old, who returned to Cardiff City this summer, joined the Gunners in 2008 for a fee of ‘£5 million’ from the Bluebirds making 369 appearances, scoring 64 goals, supplying 66 assists and winning three FA Cups.

Described as a ‘sensational’ footballer during his time at the Emirates, Benge explained why the Welsh legend sits top of his list.

Aaron Ramsey is Arsenal’s best signing post-Invincibles era

“We must have the same number one,” said Benge. “Aaron Ramsey. What a signing. You look back on that.

“£5 million. Stealing him. He gets bonus points for the Man United announcement. Two FA Cup final winners.

“The strange thing with Ramsey. I think it’s typical of that 2008- to the end of Wenger’s tenure. That era. I still feel Arsenal got 80-85% of what they could from Ramsey. You always had to move him around for someone else. Just a sensational footballer.”

The duo played alongside each other, but it would have been some sight to see a peak Ramsey playing in this current Arsenal team.

That Granit Xhaka role still needs filling and you could just see Ramey, with his box-to-box qualities, fitting that role to perfection.

The hope is that Declan Rice, as he continues to grow, can add more attacking quality to his game because it would then elevate this ever-progressing Arsenal team even further.
