Everton striker Neal Maupay is a target for ‘several’ Championship clubs, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has revealed.
Everton man Maupay looks to remain down the pecking order at Goodison Park after a season-long loan spell with fellow Premier League side Brentford last time around.
The Frenchman is among those tipped to move on from the Toffees at this late stage in the window. Sean Dyche looks to favour other options up top, and the door may well open for him to head out again.
Now, it is claimed that some late interest is emerged.
According to reporter Alex Crook, Maupay could find an Everton escape route in the Championship.
Writing on X, Crook states that ‘several’ clubs in England’s second-tier are showing an interest in Maupay as an exit beckons. None of the sides are named, nor is it said what capacity a deal would be, but there are Championship sides interested in bringing him back to the level after five years away.
Not only is Maupay out of favour with Everton, but his deal expires at the end of the current campaign.
That could be another reason why the Toffees are open to letting him go. A sale would mean they still recoup a fee for the 28-year-old while a loan would give him the chance to play regularly and see out the last year of his contract before a potential release next year.
