Sunderland are looking to wrap up the signing of a striker before the summer transfer window closes.
Sunderland are looking to hopefully end their pursuit of a striker this summer in positive fashion, with two attacking deals reportedly looking a possibility to be finalised by the end of the window.
Regis Le Bris’ side are optimistically monitoring Gift Orban from Ligue 1 side Lyon in what would be a loan move for the Nigerian.
Tom Cannon was another player that was being hotly-pursued by Sunderland, however a deal for the striker now appears to be incredibly unlikely, with Stoke City set to sign the Leicester City striker.
However, Sunderland have identified an alternative target, with it now being revealed that a seven-figure fee has been sent with the hope of attaining his services.
Sunderland send seven-figure bid for Gent striker Ahmed Abdullahi
Sunderland had bid for young Gent attacker Ahmed Abdullahi in a permanent move, with it now being revealed, per Sacha Tavolieri on X, that Kristjaan Speakman has offered a €2million (£1.7million) bid for the youngster.
It has also been revealed that Sunderland are set to face competition for the Nigerian, with ‘another team pushing’ for his signature.
There is also a chance that Gent may not sanction the move with their being ‘only two strikers in the squad in case Abdullahi leaves’.
Kristjaan Speakman must target players that will make short-term impact
Whilst Abdullahi would undoubtedly be an exciting signing for Sunderland in the future, it is certainly not at the top of the priority list at this moment, especially with the lack of attacking options at this moment.
There is the possibility that this signing could be made as a replacement for the departing Luis Hemir, however the Black Cats were hardly going to miss the Portuguese striker.
Short-term signings must be prioritised at this moment for Sunderland and Speakman, and if there is the possibility of dishing out seven-figure bids, there is the chance that this could be utilised in better areas.
