How Seamus Coleman is leading the way as Everton and Republic of Ireland captain | Football News | Sky SportsSeamus Coleman has told his Everton team-mates that they need to look at themselves in the mirror following their capitulation against Bournemouth. The Blues were condemned to a third straight Premier League defeat of the season after they fell apart in the closing stages against the Cherries.

Coming into the game on the back of a League Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers, the Blues produced one of their best performances under Sean Dyche in the opening 75 minutes. After dominating the opening 45 minutes, the Blues eventually opened the scoring five minutes into the second-half when Michael Keane fired past Kep

Dominic Calvert-Lewin then added a second seven minutes later. Further chances followed for Dyche’s side, but with three minutes of normal time remaining, the horror show commenced. Antoine Semenyo first reduced the arrears before Lewis Cook levelled things up two minutes into stoppage time.

Disaster then struck when Luis Sinisterra headed home the game’s winning goal in the final minute of stoppage time, and Coleman admitted his side only had themselves to blame for the collapse.

He said: “We really let ourselves down in front of our fans. We cannot take our foot off the gas at this level. Unfortunately, we did that. We cannot be conceding the goals that we did. We have to look at ourselves in the mirror.”How Seamus Coleman is leading the way as Everton and Republic of Ireland captain | Football News | Sky Sports

Before he added: “We did well for a long, long time in the game, but ultimately we didn’t keep going until the very end, and they did.

“We’ve got to hurt now and understand we threw away three points and understand you can’t take your foot off the gas in the Premier League, which we did.
