Leeds United are expected to be able to call upon Junior Firpo after the international break as they prepare for the trip to Norwich City.

The Whites are coming into the second international break of the season this week, meaning there is a fortnight between their win over Bristol City and their next Championship fixture – October 21st’s trip to Norwich City.

Leeds’s squad has a host of players that are going to be in action over the next seven days, though, given their international commitments.

Junior Firpo injury latest

Junior Firpo is yet to kick a ball for Leeds this season after suffering injury during pre-season, meaning Sam Byram has been the club’s only real option on the left side of defence.

The free signing has done well, but is another that is a major risk of injury due to his history, so having the £13million man back as soon as possible could be key.

The Athletic have now shared that Daniel Farke expects to have the defender back on other side of this international break.

What’s the latest on Djed Spence and Willy Gnonto?

Said report also sheds light on when Leeds can enjoy the return of Willy Gnonto and Djed Spence, with the Italian recovering from an ankle issue that he picked up against Hull City, while Spence suffered a knee ligament injury during the last international break.

Phil Hay wrote:

“Their aborted bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri in August was a hint that Farke would like more depth at No 10, but Firpo is due back after the international break and neither Djed Spence nor Willy Gnonto are a mile away from recovering from injury.”Image for Major early Leeds United injury boost emerges ahead of next week’s Norwich City trip – The Athletic

Would you welcome any of the loan players back?

I don’t expect that Firpo will be ready for a start when we travel to Norwich, but having him close to full fitness is a key boost.

Having two quality players for every position is what Farke wants, and adding Firpo at left-back to compete with the impressive Byram is good for both.

Neither of them can cope with playing three games a week, so rotating is going to be crucial to keep both fit and playing.
