Kieran Maguire has predicted that Leicester City could have handed a seven-point deduction based on the punishment given to Everton.Everton and Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park

This comes after the Premier League confirmed [3 September] that the independent Appeal Board has decided to uphold the Foxes’ appeal against the alleged breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The Toffees were deducted a total of eight points for two separate PSR breaches last term, going over the £105million loss limit over three seasons, with fans left confused by the decision.

Taking to X on Tuesday (3 September), Maguire wrote: “On the basis of the Forest/Everton points deduction of three points for breaking the rules and one more point per £6.5m above the limit, if the Premier League calculations were correct, then with a £24.4m breach, Leicester City would have had a seven point deduction (subject to aggravating and mitigating factors).”

Everton treated differently by Premier League after Leicester news?

Fans at Goodison Park are absolutely fuming, and rightly so. Sean Dyche’s side were handed a huge disadvantage last season but still managed to survive the risk of relegation.

While many fans understood that the Premier League were enforcing the rules, punishing both the Toffees and Nottingham Forest, clubs are apparently finding loopholes.

Fingers have since been pointed at Manchester City, who are yet to receive their punishment over 115 alleged breaches, and now Leicester are set to avoid a points deduction despite their alleged breach.

The Premier League is supposed to be the best division in the world, but the inconsistent treatment of different teams continues to anger and frustrate the loyal fans.Everton and Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park

Given the risk of a third points deduction heading to Goodison Park, as per Matt Hughes [10 August], it will be interesting to see what the Premier League decides to do now. Can Everton fight this one and find a loophole?

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche can still solve problem as reported target in termination talks.
