Signing four players in the final eight days of the summer transfer market helped Leeds United end a trying window on a relatively positive note. Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon and Ao Tanaka and Isaac Schmidt all look good pick-ups in positions that needed to be addressed.

But despite adding the quartet to their ranks, the Whites still have one of the smallest squads in the Championship. Luck will be required on the injury and suspension front if United are to clinch a top-two finish.

Daniel Farke did not get the No 10 he desired after a huge summer clear-out. The overhaul was more extensive than anticipated. Twenty five players have moved on to pastures new.

The high-profile sales of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter were not in the script. It was hoped the Whites would only lose one of the crown jewels to ensure they stayed within the confines of the English Football League’s Profitability and Sustainability regulations. Selling Gray, Summerville and Rutter was a bitter pill to swallow.

Archie Gray

The 18-year-old is still waiting to make his first Tottenham start. Gray, who made over 50 appearances for the Whites last term, has twice figured as a late substitute for Spurs in their clashes against Leicester City and Everton. He was an unused sub in Sunday’s 2-1 loss at Newcastle United.

With Spurs set to begin their Europa League campaign later this month, it is highly that Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will start to rotate his squad and give Gray more game time.

Crysencio Summerville

The Dutchman has got a job on his hands to earn a regular place in the West Ham United starting XI. His only start thus far came in their Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth. He played 74 minutes as England international Jarrod Bowen grabbed a late winner.

Summerville has been used from off the bench in the Hammers defeats to Aston Villa and Manchester City. The 22-year-old did not get on during their 2-0 triumph at Crystal Palace.
