Leeds United may have to revisit their January transfer plans after recent transfer reports.
Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing was linked with a move to Elland Road during the recent summer transfer window, but Daniel Farke’s side opted to bring in other targets. Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell came in to bolster the Whites’ options in midfield, with reports claiming Leeds had submitted an offer for Billing.
The Danish international has now been linked with two Turkish clubs, Trabzonspor and Galatasaray. Gune Bakis claims the Super Lig sides are hoping to get a deal over the line for Billing prior to the Turkish transfer window closing on September 18th.
The Cherries are reportedly keen on keeping the midfielder at the Vitality Stadium this season, although Billing is said to want more game time. He made 33 appearances last season for Andoni Iraola’s side, scoring two goals.
Leeds are said to have made an attempt to sign the 28-year-old late in the window, but a move to Elland Road would not come to fruition. With the transfer window in England now closed, the two Turkish clubs could now snap up the five-time Denmark international.
Billing, whose contract expires in the summer of 2027, has plenty of Championship and Premier League experience having come through Huddersfield Town’s academy set-up before moving to the Cherries in 2019. He’s scored an impressive 31 goals in 191 appearances down on the south coast
