Leicester City manager Steve Cooper says Crystal Palace don’t have to worry about striker Patson Daka, as he will not recover in time for the game at Selhurst Park this weekend. The Zambian has been battling an injury, and some fans thought he would recover during the international break to make his first appearance of the season.
However, speaking ahead of the game, Leicester’s manager Steve Cooper confirmed that his striker is still far from being fit. He told reporters at the team’s training ground in Seagrave: “It’s a long-term recovery. He’s out of his boot and crutches. He’s looking more normal in terms of how he’s walking around, but he’s still a while away.”
There are concerns over the fitness of veteran forward Jamie Vardy, but Cooper allayed worries by revealing that Vardy is feeling well and that most of the squad is ready to go.
He added: “Vards, you’re right. He trained for a week before he picked up the injury, and then trained once more before he started. We’ve used the two weeks to get some training into him while preparing him to be ready for a game as well. He played 90 minutes in the last game and nearly got a penalty at the end, so he wasn’t flagging. That’s a testament to his professionalism.”
At the end of last season, not many teams were in better form than Palace, who defied the odds and won their last four games at Selhurst to finish an impressive 10th on the league table.
They have since lost to both Brentford and West Ham in the first two games of the season before earning an impressive draw against Chelsea. They are huge favourites to secure their first three points of the campaign this weekend. Eddie Nketiah, who joined from Arsenal for a fee that could rise to £30 million, is on track to make his debut, LondonWorld has been told.
