Sunderland’s midfield options continue to be limited through injury, so we’ve picked three reasons Dan Gore should be a target in January.
The midfield at the Stadium of Light this season has been fairly light in numbers.
Corry Evans, Jay Matete and Pierre Ekwah have all struggled with injuries already, the former two being more long-term.
This has seen more attack orientated players played next to Dan Neil in the pivot.
However we feel that the side could really benefit from adding a player who can slot into midfield and add some real quality and potentially be the perfect partner for Neil.

Dan Gore is technically insane
Gore at just 19-years-old is a player who would perfectly suit the style of play that Tony Mowbray has his Black Cats playing.
Definitely a technical player who loves to be on the ball, Gore also has a low centre of gravity and is incredibly press resistant.
He would add a lot to Sunderland’s possession playa and would do excellent at building play out from the back which is senior debut for United showed when he made a cameo v Crystal Palace in the League Cup.
Defensive attributes
Despite a really strong start to the season, there have been a few worrying moments for Sunderland, most recently the 4-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.
This is something having a player like Gore in midfield could help solve, with his tenacity off the ball.
Gore might play the beautiful game, but he also loves the dirty side too and isn’t afraid to get stuck into a tackle and runs forever.
A player hungry for opportunity
One thing which Gore will undoubtedly bring to Sunderland is a massive desire to be playing.
Gore will have seen the success which his teammate Amad Diallo had here last season and will be keen to replicate.
