Wolves could not bounce back from the defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend, losing 3-2 at the Amex Stadium.

It was a woeful first-half display, but Wolves were given hope when Goncalo Guedes scored just before the break to make it 2-1.

Wanderers should have got back level, with Rodrigo Gomes and Guedes both having great chances.

But Brighton scored through Ferdi Kadioglu late on to give Wolves too much to do.

Tommy Doyle grabbed a late consolation for the visitors, and he has now sent a message to fans after last night’s result.

In the end, Wolves did not disgrace themselves at the Amex.Tommy Doyle of Wolverhampton Wanderers during a Wolverhampton Wanderers Training Session at The Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground on September 11, 2...

The first-half performance was really poor, but the players picked up their level in the second and should really have got back on level terms.

But it was still a poor defeat overall, and frustrating for those who made the long trip down to the south coast. Had Wolves turned in a similar second-half display to their first, there would have been fury today.

One man who actually gave a good account of himself last night was Doyle, who was the captain of the side with Mario Lemina on the bench.

Fans praised the Englishman for his display, with many feeling he was the standout for Wolves amid a poor collective performance.
